Flying in our Piper Supercub is a wonderful experience but does require some difference training. Similar to the night qualification, the tail wheel rating takes a further 5 hours flying after achieving the PPL qualification. It is excellent experience for pilots to be able to fly as many different types of aircraft as possible and due to their design and structure, tail wheel aircraft exhibit different operational and handling characteristics to those with ‘tricycle gear’. So, after having learned that those pedals are not just footrests, you will understand and actually be able to use the expression ‘adverse yaw’! Why not try it out?
